It's Monday! What are you reading? {August 2, 2010}

What are you reading Monday  is hosted by Shelia over at Book Journey.

What I finished last week
Outlander (Outlander, #1)
It took her 5 years, but my friend/defacto sister-in-law Jen finally got her wish. I've read Outlander! Before I was even finished with it I went to the library's online catalog and requested Dragonfly in Amber. I'm still waiting for it to arrive at my library though. =(

What I am reading now
The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had
"The Well-Educated Mind offers brief, entertaining histories of five literary genres - fiction, autobiography, history, drama, and poetry - accompanied by detailed instructions on how to read each type. The annotated lists at the end of each chapter - ranging from Cervantes to A. S. Byatt, Herodotus to Laurel Thatcher Ulrich - preview recommended reading and encourage readers to make vital connections between ancient traditions and contemporary writing."

Blue Nude

"Rosner tells the story of a German artist and his Israeli model, the moral implications of their relationship and the lasting impact of the Holocaust."

What's next?
The Adventures of Don Quixote
For an exercise in the The Well-Educated Mind". I only need to read the first 10 chapters. We'll see once I start if I'll continue with the book.

All the Queen's Players
For Simon and Schuster Advisory Board.

  2. Great looking reads! I have had books that friends have recommended that usually I purchase on their recommendation and then shelf them. I dont know why.... but when they finally do come off the shelf, 9 times out of 10 I kick myself for not reading it sooner.

    Hmmm... that reminds me....

    Have a super week!
