Musing Mondays {3-9-09}

What is your policy when it comes to new authors? Do you feel comfortable purchasing a book or do you prefer to borrow new authors from the library? How often do you 'try out' a new author?

In general I don't buy books my new (and new to me) authors. I will however, borrow and on rare occasions buy, a book by a new (or new to me) author. If the author or a specific book is highly recommended to me by someone with very similar tastes I may take the chance and buy it.

More March Musings

  1. I'm much more "reckless" with books that you are -- I'll try almost anything with almost no information!

  2. I can certainly understand not taking the chance to spend the money. But I can be fairly reckless too!

  3. I take chances by borrowing from the library!

  4. I must admit, I'm one of the reckless ones. LOL

  5. I will usually try to find a new authors book or hope it's one in the's buy three get one free deal and buy it then when I'm getting free shipping. I can usually resell it on and I'm not out too much money.

  6. I love trying new authors and so, as others have mentioned, can be rather "reckless" that way. Still, I understand the hesitation. I do like to know something about the author and book I am about to try, especially if I'm going to be buying it. Recommendations come in handy for that. I've been known to copy down names and titles, run home to research them, and then, if they passed the test, go back and get them at a later time.

IMPORTANT: Kylee's Journal Disclosure

In accordance with the FTC Guidelines for blogging and endorsements, Kylee's Journal would like everyone to know that the books reviewed on my blog were either provided to me by the publisher/the author for free OR were purchased by me OR were borrowed from the library. Books recieved for free do not get special treatment, if I don't like something, I either will not finish it (DNF) or I will struggle through to the end; both get reviews posted here.
